Kalpathy Heritage Village
Kalpathy Heritage Village, nestled along the banks of the Kalpathy River in Palakkad, Kerala, is one of the oldest and most culturally significant Brahmin settlements in South India. Known for its ageless Agraharam-style streets, ancient temples, and the globally recognized Kalpathy Ratholsavam (Chariot Festival), this heritage village offers a timeless experience.
With rows of tiled-roof houses, narrow cobbled lanes, and the sound of Vedic chanting echoing from temples like Sree Viswanatha Swamy Temple, the village reflects deep-rooted Tamil-Brahmin traditions. Recognized as the first Heritage Village of Kerala, Kalpathy offers a perfect blend of spirituality, architecture, and community life.
Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time. Photographers, cultural enthusiasts, and heritage lovers will find this place magical, especially during October–November, when the grand Ratholsavam transforms the village into a festive carnival of colors and devotion.
