Mangalam Dam
Mangalam Dam, located about 42 km from Palakkad town and close to Vadakkencherry, is a calm and picturesque reservoir built across the Cherukunnath River, a tributary of the Mangalam River. Constructed in the 1950s, this site is surrounded by forest-clad hills, providing a peaceful retreat far from urban hustle.
The dam area features well-maintained gardens, picnic spots, and a chance to observe birdlife and lush vegetation. Though relatively quiet, it’s a great place for short drives, sunset views, and nature photography. The waterbody and its surroundings attract both tourists and locals, especially during early mornings and evenings.
A lesser-crowded alternative to other reservoirs, Mangalam Dam is ideal for a peaceful half-day outing or for adding to a scenic road trip itinerary.
