Palakkad Fort
Palakkad Fort, also called Tipu’s Fort, is a massive stone fortress in the heart of Palakkad city, built by Hyder Ali in 1766. It’s one of the best-preserved forts in Kerala and has seen the rule of Mysore Sultans, the British, and the Travancore royals.
Surrounded by a wide moat and lush garden, the fort remains a popular location for morning walks, history tours, and casual exploration. Inside, you’ll find the Hanuman temple, colonial-era remnants, and administrative offices. The stone walls, expansive grounds, and strategic position make it a landmark of both military and architectural value.
Centrally located, it’s easily accessible and often combined with visits to Malampuzha, Jainmedu, and Kalpathy Heritage Village.
