Thiruvalathur Shiva Temple
Thiruvalathur Shiva Temple, located around 7 km from Palakkad town, is a remarkable heritage site known for its exquisite woodwork, intricate carvings, and deep spiritual energy. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the lesser-known yet most architecturally rich temples in Kerala.
Believed to be over a thousand years old, the temple features a Sanctum Sanctorum with 108 granite pillars, each with distinct carvings. The quiet, open compound surrounded by traditional Kerala-style walls makes it a peaceful space for spiritual seekers and heritage tourists.
Legend says the temple was partly constructed overnight by divine beings and is aligned with astronomical precision. Its untouched charm and lack of commercialism make it ideal for offbeat religious exploration.
