Dharmadam Beach is a beautiful coastal destination located in Dharmadam, near Thalassery in Kannur district. The beach offers a peaceful setting along the Arabian Sea, with scenic views of the nearby Dharmadam Island, also known as Dharmapatnam Island.
One of the highlights of the area is the small, picturesque island located just offshore. During low tide, the island can sometimes be approached from the mainland, but visitors should be extremely careful with changing tides and sea conditions. The island is covered with coconut palms and coastal vegetation, creating a striking backdrop from the beach.
Dharmadam Beach is less commercialized than some of Kannur’s better-known beaches, making it suitable for visitors who prefer a quiet environment. The combination of golden sand, rocky sections, coconut trees, and Arabian Sea views provides excellent opportunities for photography and peaceful walks.
The beach is also conveniently located near several attractions in Thalassery and Kannur, including Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach, Thalassery Fort, St. Angelo Fort, and Gundert Bungalow. Visitors can easily include Dharmadam Beach as part of a North Kerala coastal sightseeing route.
